Blog 3: TV ads

When i first started this assignment, i had no idea where to start. There were so many ideas running around that it was hard to concentrate.  But the solution came when i opened my fridge and grabbed a Coke. Coca-Cola is one of the greatest American symbols we see on a daily basis.  What better choice could there be for an American to discuss?

In the TV ad above, two rival soldiers patrol their nations borders, picking over every detail (trash...). In the end however, they put their arguments aside so that they both can enjoy the great pleasure of an ice cold Coke before beginning their duties again.

This commercial sells Coke to the people in many ways.  The fact that the individuals in it are soldiers might appeal to some military individuals.  The older uniforms that they wear appeal to the elder generations as they see an image of the times of their youth.  The fact that the soda is ice-cold appeals to the American ideal of sitting back and relaxing with a nice cold beverage.
Another aspect is the image of the two soldiers putting their differences aside to have Coke sells the idea that Coca-Cola can help solve people's problems, and make your life better.
